CTIP Mission

Serving Christ in the City

Christians Together in Plymouth

unites in pilgrimage those churches which, acknowledging God's revelation in Christ, confess the Lord Jesus Christ as God and Saviour according to the scriptures;

and in obedience to God's will and in the power of the Holy Spirit, commit themselves:

to seek a deepening of their communion with Christ and with one another in the church, which is his body, and

to fulfill their mission to proclaim the gospel by common witness and service to the world.

An Enabling Group

with representatives from Anglican, Free Church, Roman Catholic and house church traditions, and from local ecumenical groupings, has the responsibility of promoting these aims and encouraging local initiatives.

Since its formation at Pentecost 1980

Christians Together in Plymouth has

  • set up 'Signpost' as a bi-monthly magazine for the churches.  This is now an independent publication available across Devon.
  • published the Plymouth Churches Guide, a directory of churches and resources.
  • co-ordinated an annual service for the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, run by a local group of churches.
  • held lunches for ministers and church leaders 3 times a year to give the opportunity to meet, share information and listen to a short presentation of mutual interest.
  • supported other Christian initiatives in the city, including Making Waves, the visit of M.V. Anastasis, engagement of local issues and Jubilee 2000.
