HOPE In Devon - The Big Cream Tea
To all Church leaders,
Churches Together in Devon have made arrangements for
the Big Cream Tea, which is the HOPE 08 event we are promoting
for the end of May!
The vision is to use this quintessentially Devon delicacy
– as an outreach tool, that can be offered by churches
throughout the county to touch their communities. We are
promoting Fair Trade and local produce too!
Please see details in the below downloadss! This will
be launched by Bishop Michael at the Devon County Show.
Blessings in all your HOPE activities!

The New Year in Prayer
If Hope 08 is to have any impact in Plymouth, we know that it will need surrounding
in prayer. We are encouraging Christians across
the city to “pray
in”the New Year using the prayer below. It
has been designed so that you can invite friends, non-christians,
neighbours to join you. The prayer is available
on a credit card sized card for you to give away. Churches may order copies from the CTiP office
at £8
per 100.
Why not:
-
hold a prayer vigil over new year’s eve
-
hold 24/7 prayer in preparation for Hope 08
-
include the prayer cards with your Christmas service
invitations
-
distribute the cards at your Christmas services
-
include the prayer in your church magazine or on your
church Christmas card
-
use the prayer as part of your Covenant or new year
service
-
have your home groups, fellowship meetings, prayer
meetings use it regularly
-
pray it yourself!
WELCOME
THE NEW YEAR IN PRAYER
2008 is being celebrated by Christians
across Britain as
a year of Hope.
We love our city, but we know there
is much that could improve.
Please join us as we pray for:
- courage for the decision-makers;
-
wisdom for the business leaders;
-
compassion for the carers;
-
and commitment from us all to bring
hope to those most in need.
God, please bless our city with:
-
safety on our streets;
-
love in our homes;
-
peace in our relationships;
-
friendship for the lonely;
-
help for the struggling;
-
healing for the sick;
-
comfort for the dying.
Help us to celebrate what is good;
-
reject what is evil;
-
and share your love with everyone.
Amen. |
